If she’s doing it, maybe I can too.

Why do I want to speak?

When I was in high school, there was such pressure to know exactly what I wanted to do afterwards - and I had no idea.

It felt like there was no one who was in a similar boat, and it was stressful not being able to see a pathway to the future that felt right for me. After a gap year, travelling the world, switching universities and degrees, moving cities, trying out a huge range of different fields and topics, and working in a wide variety of jobs - I finally found something that I loved.

I now love sharing my story of how I got to where I am, and providing exposure to some of the incredible places, degrees, sciences, jobs and opportunities out there that are possible for others.

Sharing my passion for science, history, and helping people to find their pathway to what they enjoy is what I love.

How does is help STEM?

Providing this exposure to STEM careers and opportunities will hopefully encourage others - especially women and girls - to pursue study, careers, or experiences in the field. By increasing the visibility of women in scientific roles, hopefully this will allow other to see a clear pathway forward for their own futures.

    Selina, Macquarie University

  • "I want to sincerely thank you for your time and expertise today. I have heard nothing but praise for your presentation. Teachers have told me that it was really interesting and engaging. It is so valuable for our students to hear real scientists talk about their fields of expertise. Your artifacts and fossils were fascinating for them to see and they were really impressed that you answered all their questions too. "

    Marianna, Year 4 teacher,

    St. Marks Public School Drummoyne

  • We would like to send you our big thanks for your informative live session! I and my students have learned a lot about dinosaurs and fossils. Some of them even got "crazy" when they found that T-rex may look like a chicken. They really appreciate the valuable information you gave them! Some of them are still shy, they said that they loved to listen!

  • “My favourite presenter would probably have to be Sally. I did not only find her interesting as a person and an academic success but an inspiration in how I can approach life and the opportunity that life offers. I see her as a role model and the living ideology that getting to where you are isn’t a linear straight path and so I naturally aspire to be like her.”
