Women in STEM Symposium panel
‘If you originally thought that a career in STEM was a dusty old white dude in a lab coat, hopefully my expereince and the experience of the other women here to talk to you, will show you all of the opportunities available for a woman in STEM.’
📍Australian National Maritime Museum, Sydney
📅 March, 2023
This annual event encourages high school girls to consider a career in STEM and introduces girls to an amazing array of STEM opportunities. Students were presented with a series of talks from Women in STEM, including Dr. Vanessa Pirotte (Wildlife Scientist), Cay-Leigh Bartnick (Assitant Curator, ANMM), Varsha Bubathi (Cloud Solutions Architect, Microsoft), Eliza Macdonald (Exercise Physiologist), and myself!
From diving with sharks, digging up dinosaurs, and going to a school where I was one of two girls in my entire year, myself and the other scientists were able to discuss each of our journeys into our STEM careers, what we love about our jobs, and some of our favourite experiences along the way, with students able to ask questions at the end.
